Pushkar, Jaipur, Nov 2015
The Pushkar Camel fair is a fascinating spectacle that held each November at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon. It is a visitor’s finest opportunity to experience rural India in its organic form. The fair is one of the world's largest trading place in Rajasthan for buying and selling livestock such as camels, horses and cattles over a period of 10 days. Competitions are also held in the fair which becomes a side attraction for tourists such as "longest moustache" and "being the fastest turban wrapping”.
From this trip, I learnt that a camel can travel about 40 to 50 km per day under the heat hauling a medium load, and can survive without water for 6 to 7 months during winter !
