Delhi / Ladakh, Jul 2015
Ladakh is sometimes called “Little Tibet” which bears some resemblance due to the landscape, culture and the people. The religion are mainly Buddhism. We enroute to Ladakh via Delhi.
Ladakh is sandwiched between a couple of the highest Himalayan mountains and Karakoram ranges. The location we went was about 4,000m.
The main attraction in this trip was the Korzok Festival held at the Korzok Monastery in Tsomoriri. The Festival symbolises the defeat of evil and pays homage to the assassination of the Tibetan King Lang Dar Ma by a Buddhist monk in the 9th century. The commemoration consists of monks dancing and performing various rituals around the courtyard of the monastery to mark the victory. The festival never failed to attract many caucasian tourists, including a few crazy Singaporeans travelling almost 6 hrs by road to reach the destination.
